Ahem

Yeah, so...

I changed my blog title again.  But it's for keeps this time!

I promise.

Smile!

I went with my mom to get some stones from my Aunt Sharon's new place yesterday.  Mom wants to use them to make some sort of rockbed for a miniature waterfall in the backyard or something like that.  Those friggin' things were covered in spiders.  Big, huge, nasty spiders.  I mean huge.

Her sort of neighbor (He owns the house, but doesn't live there.) was there.  We were standing in the back yard, talking about home renovation (Well, they were; I was just kind of standing there.), when someone said something that made me smile.  I noticed neighbor-man glancing at me a couple of times in quick succession before he stopped in the middle of a sentence to tell me that I have a very pretty smile.

Later, mom asked if 'that old man' was flirting with me, but it was pretty clear to me that he really did just think I have a nice smile.  Still, I do get told that I have a nice smile quite often, but only by men, usually older ones.  (Well, my Aunt Nancy said she likes my smile, but she's my aunt, and my Aunt Su's friend mentioned my smile, but I never figured out if she was complimenting it or commenting on how much it looks like Aunt Su's and she's my Aunt Su's friend (read: kooky/offbeat and probably a hippie).  They don't count.)  What's the deal with that?

Yay, Violence!

Yesterday, my not quite two year old niece gave her slightly older cousin a bloody nose when he tried to push her off of a chair.  How awesome is that?

Name Change

My blog had the same name as another one floating around out there, so I changed it.

Friggin' people, stealing my ideas before I even come up with them.  Now how is that fair?

Summer Vacation Part 2

I got back from visiting family in New York about a week ago.  Please, if I ever again decide to go on a trip with my sister that lasts more than a week, smack me.

No, better yet, tie me to a chair, stuff me in a closest, and give me a good talking to until I come to my senses.

I'm just counting myself lucky that her husband had to work and couldn't come along.  Not that it made much difference, seeing as they were constantly text messaging.  (Curse their unlimited texting!)  Do you have any idea how annoying it is to be sitting in New York City traffic, sweating, staring at that friggin' Lary Flynt's Hustler club billboard whatever thing for twenty minutes, and having to listen to a doorbell knockoff ringtone every thirty seconds?  Clue: answer is really a very lot.

Sunburn, Yay!

I went to the US Open on Wednesday, and in between paying $2.50 for a bottle of water, getting crushed to death while trying to walk past the putting green at the same time that Tiger Woods was there, and getting evangelized by a very nice man (He kept it brief, and gave us some golf tips.) I managed to get a sunburn.

And not just any sunburn, oh no, mutant sunburn.

Summer Vacation Part 1

So summer's here and I'm finally home.  Actually, I've been home for a few days now.  Mostly I've been staring blankly at the computer and watching TV.By the way, ABC Family is totally not a family channel.

I spent the first week after my final at my brother's place.  He and his wife went on a cruise before he has to leave for officer's training and Mom was watching the kids while they were gone.  Since she was my ride home, I had to go too.

My Maybe Possibly Could Be Might Be Date

So, I might have a date in June with this guy I used to go to school with in junior high.  (I'm not sure if it's an actual date or just a friends thing.)  Anyway, I just told my mom about it.

She wanted to know with who.  Then she wanted to know how long I'd been talking to him and how I'd started talking to him.  Then she wanted to know where he lived.  Then she wanted to know if he was in school.  Then she wanted to know the exact nature of his job at the fire department.  Then she wanted to know how it is that we're going on a date (possibly) when I'm here and he's there.  Then she decided that she'd let me have my date, but she wanted to know more about him.

Let me have my date?  Let me?

What is this?  Am I not twenty-one years old?  Am I not reasonably intelligent?  Am I not responsible?  Am I not the most well-behaved of her children?

I'm insulted.  Does she think I'm going to let him drive me to the middle of the woods or something?  Does she think I don't read all those posters, and newsletters, and emails, and fliers, and magazine articles, and pamphlets, and leaflets, and sugar packets warning girls about the dangers of speaking to members of the opposite sex on which you have not run a background test and several blood tests on?

Yeesh.  I am not an idiot.

You know, I'd be reacting to this much better if she'd said something more along the lines of, "I want you to be careful".  This let you business, however, just ain't gonna fly.  Really, she should know better by now.

If You Love Someone, Let Them Go

She's back!

My roommate has returned to me, and she brought me prezzies!  It's as though a big empty space in my life has now been filled.  The air suddenly smells sweeter.  Colors are brighter.  The soft whirring of the fans are like music to my ears.  The faint hint of marijuana in the hallway is like the finest of perfumes.

It has been so long that I had forgotten how truly magnificent she is.  How her fiery hair shines under our fluorescent light.  The way her smile lights up a room.  The sweet dulcet tones of her voice.

Oh, Roomie.  I have missed you so.

GM&R Presentation

Well, the presentation for GM&R went a lot better than I thought it would.  I'm so glad it's over.  The other girl in our group seemed a little lost when she was talking, especially about Prometheus, but I think we'll get a good grade.

We better win best cover page.  Those drawings that other group did sucked.  (I'm totally sure the Greek gods and goddesses looked like anime characters, right.)  Doing stuff like that is not easy.  Not that I would know, Shannen made the cover.  Also, some awesome origami DOOM cranes.

Speaking of GM&R class, why is it that people in that class keep insisting that Eve didn't know that she wasn't supposed to eat of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?  She quite clearly says, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; it is only about the fruit in the tree of the middle of the garden that God said, 'You shall not eat it or even touch it, lest you die.'" Gen 3:2-3.*

Grades

I've gotten all my grades in and was pleasantly surprised.  I have a 3.5 for the semester.

My overall GPA however, is 3.2.  Is it really entirely necessary for them to pay attention to our past performance?  I mean really, maybe the professors really really sucked.  All of them.  It could happen.

Let's All Go To Vandevanland

Exciting news, everybody!

Renee has a blog now.  It's called Vandevanland, and she let me and Molly choose her screen name; Dear Leader.  This came about after a particularly inventive discussion on what we would do should we happen to be aboard the Titanic when it sank.  Then we talked about hunting and scoliosis.

There is a logical progression here; I'm just not going to tell you what it is.

I finally got some grades back.  I have a B in History of Photography and a B+ in Fitness.  Now I just have to wait for Intro to Ethics and Photography.  Honestly, if Jim doesn't get my grade in soon I may be forced to do something drastic.  I know he knows what grade I have; I was there when he figured it out.

In completely unrelated news, my brother may, in fact, be a changeling.  This disturbing development will be investigated.

Ha!

I'm on to you now Shannen.  I saw you smiling at my niece in the car.  That was not an I'm gonna eat you smile.  You big faker.  You like babies, and not just for dinner.

In related news, has anyone ever had to spend a day watching two toddlers who have just reached the shoving stage, and aren't yet old enough to understand the concept of putting toys away, and are just learning to talk so they keep making noises that I think are words but I can't be sure and an infant who keeps crying because she has gas (and also 'cause she's a, you know, baby)?  Surprisingly fun.  I'm glad the funny lookin' niece isn't so fussy anymore.  Still funny looking though.

Also, attics get really, really, really hot.  So not fair; gives me a headache.  Which does not go well with allergies.  By the way, claritin sucks.  It took care of the itchy eyes and the sneezing, but it did nothing for my throat and my nose is still running.  We called the police, they said they're on it.

...

See what I did there?  Running.  From the law.

*sigh*  I'm so funny.

Lord Have Mercy...

...on me, because I need it.

My finals start tomorrow, and what am I doing?  Not studying, no.  I'm setting up a blog.

Curse you, Rachael.
