Summer Vacation Part 1

So summer's here and I'm finally home.  Actually, I've been home for a few days now.  Mostly I've been staring blankly at the computer and watching TV.By the way, ABC Family is totally not a family channel.

I spent the first week after my final at my brother's place.  He and his wife went on a cruise before he has to leave for officer's training and Mom was watching the kids while they were gone.  Since she was my ride home, I had to go too.

Step-niece is a little brat.  Seriously, I know she's just a ten year old, but I don't think I've ever met a person that gets on my nerves that much.  She's rude, has no consideration for other people's feelings, and doesn't do as she's told.  Worst of all she has one of those qualities that I absolutely despise in people.

I'm not sure how to explain it.   It's the way she responds to, well, I guess you could call it censure or dissaproval.  (Though neither of those are exactly the word I'm going for.)  With amusement.  It's as though she finds the idea that she is rude or that people are insulted or hurt by her words and actions to be funny.  That kind of lack of consideration for others just really upsets me.

She's only ten though, she's got lots of time to grow and mature.  It's the adults (or even teenagers) who act like that that really starts my slappin' hand itchin'.

Niece #4 (according to age and including Step-niece) is much less annoying.  This is almost certainly due to her age; she'll be twelve months come June.  It's hard to call a little baby annoying.

She sure is clingy though, cried every time Grandma left the room and followed her around constantly.  It's nice when she falls asleep in your arms though.  I love it when they do that.

We got home eventually.  My room could probably double as a sauna without the steam.  I guess that's what I get for living in the attic of an old house with no AC.

1 I would love to hang out with you!! I'll have to see when I have days off. It's hard to accomplish anything around my schedule since I work 8 hours a day and spent 3 hours going back and forth to work. Plus I need sleep. Somehow I have a hard time functioning without it.
